What happens in a first consultation
A first consultation is a conversation. It is a chance for you to explain what is going on, ask your questions and get a clearer picture of how Texas law generally applies to situations like yours. It is also a chance to decide whether you want to work with Scott.
In general, you can expect to:
- Give a short overview of your situation and what has happened so far
- Talk about what matters most to you, such as your children, your home or your finances
- Hear what the process may look like and what choices may be ahead
- Ask about next steps, if you decide to move forward
Before you meet, Scott may ask for the name of the other person involved, such as your spouse, so he can check for conflicts of interest. That check confirms he is free to talk with you about your matter.
You don't need to have everything figured out. Bring what you have. If you want to get organized first, the free Navigating Divorce workbook is a good place to start, and the common questions page answers many first questions in plain words.
Please don't send confidential details by email yet
Until you have spoken with Scott, please keep emails, forms and chat messages short. A brief description of the kind of help you need is enough. Save private details, documents and the specifics of your case for your conversation with him.
Sending an email or a message through this site does not make Scott your lawyer. An attorney-client relationship starts only when you and Rewak Law Firm, PLLC agree to it.
